The conversation, moderated by Anthony J. Vegliante, USPS executive vice president and chief human resources officer, included APWU President William Burrus, National Association of Letter Carriers President Bill Young, National Rural Letter Carriers Association President Donnie Pitts, and National Postal Mail Handlers Union President John Haggerty. Discussion focused on the future of the Postal Service, the role of employees, and the importance of providing high-quality service.
The video will be shown first in plants, and later in other postal facilities.

“the importance of providing high-quality service.”
I have almost 37 years as a rural carrier. I have NEVER seen the Postal Service this poorly run. If the Postal Service were a building, it would topple over from being so top heavy. They “create” more and more jobs outside of processing and delivery, and less and less jobs IN processing and delivery, and wonder how service deteriorates. When carriers are on the street for 8-10 hours, how can that be good for service? We have had mail being delivered up to 10PM, believe it or not.
My office has paid out so much overtime and grievance money to city carriers, that it is ridiculous. Instead of giving the carriers fair and honest route inspections, and creating the routes necessary to actually deliver the mail in a timely and professional manner, they cheat the carriers left and right, creating routes with unrealistic numbers. Mail is so light when the carriers are on inspection, that everyone now just treats it like the joke it is. The bosses don’t realize that by cheating the carriers on inspection, they make their own jobs tougher. How do they explain the hours used, as opposed to the hours gleaned from the inspections?
My office had four carriers make over $100K last year. It is just not wise to have guys working 12 hours per day, 6 days per week and sometimes 7 days.
The United States Postal SERVICE should just change its name to USPS, a name that doesn’t mean anything. Service is not what the company is all about.

I hope that We as letter carriers vote for the presidential person that is all for americans future and not just for one who says they support the NALC and I like Obama but is he going to fight for changes or he going to do what the people that paid for his political campain want him to do. Because if America sink the P.O. is going down as well.

Why is it so hard for workers at the USPS to understand that it is a disfuctional organazation. The management comes out of the work force. They are what the workers are. They complain as much. If you don’t like it leave it, I did!
