Would i do it again? A monetary reward for beating the budget Annually, favor amongst my peers etc. etc………. if i ran a business and i knew that i could provide substandard facilities for employees and the public by not filling valid, admittedly needed positions. save over $350,000(as in my office)all the while citing that upon fruition of this grievance backpay would be in the hundreds of thousands as was the previous settlement in 94/95 (a mandated settlement that the PO staff to proper level) Yet i would only be held accountable for $2700…. whats the question again? why was a grievance even filed. this is less than a slap on the hand

And there you have it….all reward and no risk (or consequences) to the offender: The Postal (and other monopolies) road to ruin paved with gross lack of accountability.

By the actions of this settlement, We are now exemplifing the future of the Postal “service”. Unfortunately, now that the Postal “Service” is to be run like a business, why provide service at all? people have to mail things like letters anyway. long lines, less workers, nobody to complain to. the next thing we should do since we “saved” so much money in the custodial craft is RAISE the main honchos salery by the max…39% Oh we already did that?- and made it retroactive to Jan 5 2007? great business plan. What else would i cut. if this worked in this instance it must work in other areas….. Hey i know lets give the worst service and force the customers away to contract units. they get min. wage and 3 days of training-way better customer service now. then lets cut the clerk operation hours and save money there then settle for pennies on the dollar and wait for our big reward. i thought this was a public service org. not self-service org. by the time the public figures out whats going on we will have already shot off our postal feet and wont be running in the race any more. great plan. lots of money for those in “position” to sell
