USPS Offering Cash Prizes in Automated Postal Centers Sweepstakes
The U.S. Postal Service wants its customers to handle their own postage — and is offering cash prizes to those who do. At post offices nationwide, including three in Greensboro, customers will get a chance at $250 daily cash prizes and a grand prize of $10,000 when they use the Automatic Postal Center kiosks rather than standing in line to be served. Lets go ahead and give all window services to a contractor. We have fallen to an all time low with this promotion. I’m eligible to retire; the ship is sinking; but I would like a few more dollars in my retirement.

Window services have always been the red-headed stepchild of the postal service–I know, I used to be a window clerk–but this is just too much. How much more contempt can management show the public?
I have a business route. Two weeks ago my boss informed his carriers that we could no longer accept stamped parcels over 13 ounces, for “security reasons,” and should tell our customers they’d have to go to the retail window to mail them. We were asssured that more window clerks would be hired to reduce waiting time. Two days ago I learned that one of the window positions at our retail unit had been eliminated for “economy reasons.”

has there ever been a business in the history of the world that is more screwed up than the USPS?
maybe Enron, but that’s about it.

At our office in the morning there are more
supervisors than clerks sorting mail. Too many
chiefs and not even close enough clerks. Why does
it take 4 supervisors to watch 3 clerks??? Screwed
up isn’t the word, FUBAR IS THE WORD!!!

Thank you for helping me to enter. When I entered the apcsweeps.com I ran up against a very personal survey put on by Neilsen/Gallup and was not a happy camper. Thanks to your blog I was able to enter and it was short, sweet and didn’t entail giving my life history which was both scary and suspicious.

Beware there is MORE THAN ONE site and the first one is NOT THE CORRECT ONE!!!!

The automated center is Ok when it works. Saves standing in line. Once when it charged me but did not dispense my postage, I went inside and I was given stamps in an equal amount, no questions asked and an apology. I do wonder why it takes so long for mail to arrive a certain destinations from Florida. EX: A week to or from the midwest or southwest. Sometimes 4 days to the next county.

what state won the money?

USPS. You can scribble an address and we decipher it and get it to the destination for 41 cents. You complain about delivery time but you cannot write.
I routinely receive mail from across the country in one to two days.
We have the best mail system in the world. Be grateful
