Postal Mail Handlers Awarded $13.8 Million for Casuals Violation
Note: Some readers (in commenting on the ‘Kelly Girl Award’ article) said USPS would not pay Clerks nearly $20 million. Well, read on about the recent payments to Mail Handlers in Phoenix, AZ. Mail Handlers received payment from the ‘casual in lieu of’ settlement agreement on August 10, 2007 (Pay Period 16) .
Background
On October 23, 2006 Arbitrator Philip Tamoush awarded $12,799,200.00 to Mail Handlers in Phoenix, AZ and $100, 800.00 to NPMHU Local #320 for lost union dues.
The arbitrator found that USPS utilized the supplemental workforce (casual-category employees ) on “a year-round basis in lieu of , instead of, in place of , full or part-time employees, in violation of Article 7.1 B of the National Agreement.”

some money. Their contract was the worst. Why
they don’t merge with APWU is mysterious.

Just look at our settlement and you would know why we wouldn’t merge with APWU.Clerks are having their jobs abolished at a record pace.APWU needs us more than we need them!

i wonder how many managers get kicked up because of this fiasco?this is becoming epidemic..all unions have to coalesce and drag potter in front of congress..there’s no doubt that this rhino is absolutely losing control.

Question is: What did the PO make in return for 13 Mil? If they saved 15 mil, then the 2 mil is worth it to them…

I am so glad to hearthis victory CILO is very important to us. It shows how wrong management is by the amount of settlement. I hope we win our case here in Nashua NH at the L&DC.

have over Two Hundred Thousand members compared
to your fifty thousand. They have (3) crafts
and you have one. What will you do when the
day comes when mailhandlers start losing positions as we know will happen. NOWHERE TO GO

obviously borat is a moron! not only are clerks losing jobs at a record pace but drivers are also. I guess we could use most custodians to sleep in the broom closets while we wipe are asses with our hands!!

Borat: you are absolutely wrong. In Phoenix Mail Handler craft is at 95% Membership while the APWU locally are at low 60%. Apperently this an accurate reflection Nation-wide.
Most Clerks in Phoenix can only dream of been represented by the NPMHU.
Mail Handlers will not be losing thier position since most automated equipment are been awarded to the Mail Handler Craft.

Borat: In this movie called “Life”, you’re still in a world of make-believe. APWU nation-wide have been submissive to management, misused their membership, and has squandered what little reputation the forefathers have built. National Level grievances withdrawn due to ignorance. It’s a good thing to have a membership of 200K and 3 different crafts but, it must be a terrible feeling to pay into an organization that’s “All Bark, & No Bite”. NPMHU is truly an organization of “ONE”(craft) and that’s all we need. When automation shifts into full swing in the not too distant future, and the clerk craft transforms into mail processors where even the custodian craft can perform this task (but fewer), the real question becomes; Not if, but when will I be next? Ask your reps the question, how can a membership of 200K continuously to lose to a membership of 50K? The answer is simple, “you (Union) must educate your membership”. Armed with this knowledge, even Borat (himself) won’t appear to be a Bonehead. The truth needs no make-up nor special effects, it’s simply what it is. “We’re fighting for you” have to be more than mere words being spoken. Borat, “children learn more through your actions than they’ll ever learn through your teachings”… In short, “don’t tell your children not to drink, then ask them to pass you a beer from the fridge”. I truly believe that you’ve been kept in the blind and for (it seems) a good reason. Come into the light and have some pride in your Union (regardless) and don’t shame the organization with frivilous comments such as what I’ve read from you. Do something positive for your Union and not detrimental. I ask you what have you done for your Union other than run off at the mouth or key strokes? When you can answer this question with a degree of honesty, I have better respect for you. “Only roaches and rats run when the lights are turned on” (remember the lights). AS WE KNOW BORAT IS MENTALLY CHALLENGE. IN REALITY MH ARE GETTING ALL NEW AUTMATION ASSIGNEMTS SPBS, APPS, LCTS, AI AND FLAT PREP AND DO NOT FORGET THAT THE TRANSPORTATION BETWEEN MACHINES AND TO AND FROM IS AN INTEGRAL PART OF THE MAIL HANDLER TRANSPORTATION FUNCTION. WE WILL MORE THAN LIKELY GET THE FSS OPERATION BECAUSE THE MACHINE DOES THE DISTRIBUTION. THEREFORE REPLACEING THE CLERK. ALL THATS LEFT IS OPENING, SEPARATING, PREPPING, LOADING, CONTAINERIZING AND DISPATCH. ALSO REMEMEBER BORAT HAS SEX WITH HIS SISTER CONSIDER THE SOURCE!!!!!!!!

CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR CASUL IN LIEU OF CASE IN MY OFFICE I FILED THE GRIEVANCE USED FOR DAS AWARD BY NPMHU AND IN KNOXVILLE WE ONLY HAVE CASUALS FOR MISSING ,LIGHT DUTY,LIMITED DUTY,204B’S AND NOW WERE FILEING GRIEVANCES FOR CLERK CASUALS PERFORMING M/H WORK IN LIEU OF MAIL HANDLERS. GO THOUGH POSTAL CYCLE EVERY 3 YEARS AS WE GET MANAGER WHO HAVE A BETTER WAY OF PROCESSING MAIL AND VIOLATING OUR NPMHU NATIONAL AGREEMENT.

when you have a class action grievance settlement i thought it was supposed to be shared equally among the mailhandelers at a facility at the nji&bmc some mailhandels are getting 1300.00 and some are getting 500.00. id like to know who decides who gets what and if there is any oversight….atty generals office?
