USPS Opens Bilingual Postal Unit in Arkansas
The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports:
“The first bilingual postal service location in Arkansas opened Thursday in Springdale, the U. S. Postal Service announced Monday. The service will be provided at Snappylogos Inc at 3138 Old Missouri Road. Customers can buy stamps and use express and priority mail service, receiving help in English and Spanish. This is the first U. S. Postal Service contract unit in Arkansas that will provide service to both English- and Spanish speaking customers. A full line of postal products and services will be available at the new unit, including postage stamps, express and priority mail service, and special services.”
In March of last year USPS opened its first bilingual post office — a contract unit with Nationwide Insurance in Memphis, Tenn.
U.S. Postal officials are hoping a new bilingual post office here will make life easier for Spanish-speaking residents and speed up waits.”

The National Agreement between USPS and APWU explores bilingual post offices:
A task force will explore the creation of Bilingual Sales and Service Associate positions for areas where there are insufficient bilingual employees and the community has a diverse population

I think it is pretty funny to hear Hispanics that learn how to speak English in Arkansas. When I moved here from the North I ran into alot of people speaking “English” and I had no idea what they were saying.
