Well, that’s according to The Kiplinger Letter
The postal rate hikes we forecast for 2007 are coming in May. Lobbying by businesses against the increases won’t derail them. The hikes are still in the pipeline, though delayed by a few months.
Further rate rises are likely in 2008: First-class stamps, up another 1ยข, and an increase in business rates of 3% across the board. The U.S. Postal Service wants to adopt these increases before 2009, when a new pricing law takes effect. It will let the USPS raise rates on an annual basis but by no more than the prior year’s inflation rate.

Oh my God, 1 cent raise in postage! When will it ever end.(ha-ha). Show me the last bill you got where 1 cent was going to make you dive off the deep end!

They should just up it to 50 cents a stamp and leave it there until like 2012 or something like that… instead of a penny here, or two cents there..

If the junk mail was assessed the same rate as first class mail, the volume would be reduced dramatically, therefor no rate increase would be necessary.

In response to Tom McCowan. You had better hope that the volume in junk mail is not dramatically reduced……….it subsidizes the first class mail in totality by unbelievable propotions around 80%). Would you like everyone to pay $.76 for a first class stamp?

sure postage has to go up for the old folks who don’t pay their bills on line

Our postage is still way below most countrys. And
with online bill paying, the cost is bearable for most. My only complaint is the po box rental goes up when the postage does and its getting to way to expensive.

Holy Mother of Mary! They shouldn’t do that. I suggest you buy a lot of Forever stamps.

One cent is just downright annoying. They might as well go to 45 and hold it there longer. Now I have to deal with a bunch of 1-cent stamps.
