From USPS Transformation Plan Progress Report
The highly publicized Segway™ Human Transporter (HT) is a motorized scooter which the Postal Service deployed experimentally along various postal routes. The test was designed to determine the feasibility of using the Segway HT to assist carriers in delivering the mail. The Segway HT allows letter carriers to travel more quickly while reducing the physical burden of carrying the mail. A contract was signed in spring FY2002 to test 40 units. There are no plans to expand this testing beyond this current phase until Segway can provide an extended-life battery.

The Segway scooters should be retained as a way to reasonably accommodate employees with physical disabilities.

Yea, the Segway scooters have no seat and no steering wheel…
Perfect for someone who has lost their arse and doesn’t know which way to turn! ;~P

This reminds me about the time the post office in Salem sold nutting trucks to the public at ridiculously low prices! The upshot was that in less than 2 years they needed them for moving the mail!

Sadly, the joke is on all of us as the demoncrats will have us broke and bowing to mecca if in power more than a couple years.

I am surprised lazy INCOMPETENT POSTAL MANAGEMENT isn’t using them to drive themselves to their cars!

Speaking of selling things, has anyone heard of the post office cutting down on the number of the standard, big blue cast iron collection boxes and selling them to the public??
Have a neighbor who would be interested in buying one, if this is true. He heard it from his city letter carrier. (I am also a carrier on the rural side, not currently working, so I would not be ‘up’ on this stuff.)
Thanks!

are you sure that picture was in Tampa? I see carriers in long pants, jackets, and even a sweater. Looks more like the test they did in Chicago.
And I hope that third knucklehead got written up for not wearing a helmet.

We aren’t broke now? We owe over a billion to China, more than that to Japan. Plus what we owe to the SocSec funds. Tax cuts and a war charged on the national credit card have left us with quite a bill to pay.

That will end as soon as they run over someone
