U.S. Postal Service spokesperson Richard Maher said the Postal Service is not directly involved in organizing the event, but many representatives are attending. He said the event means a great deal to the postal workers, especially those who knew the victims of the shooting.
“We really appreciate the community standing behind the families of our coworkers who were killed in this tragedy,” Maher said. “The communities of Goleta and Santa Barbara are really pulling together.”

The USPS learned nothing from this tragedy.
They are still bullying the Goleta Employees
and now hassling and sending home the injured
workers since they dont like their medical
restrictions.
The only difference is there are now rented
security guards at the front gate checking
IDs.

At least they have real armed guards. Most facilties don’t have anything but the same bullshit “follow me close to get in the gate” crap. It allowed the former employee to get in the facilty without a badge.
(Mis)Management has plenty of money for offsite meetings and bonuses but nothing to secure facilites properly. And the inspection service just stands there with their thumb in their ass.
BTW, the shooter in this case made a ‘I’ll shoot you in the head’ motion to several employees before she went out on medical disability. Managemnt knew about it. But did anyone monitor her after she left? This shooting should have been prevented by the inspection service!

Goleta Joe said, in part “BTW, the shooter in this case made a ‘I’ll shoot you in the head’ motion to several employees before she went out on medical disability. Managemnt knew about it. But did anyone monitor her after she left? This shooting should have been prevented by the inspection service!”
Are you seriously suggesting that the Inspection Service should have monitored this lady after she left employment with the USPS and after she moved from California to New Mexico??? For a couple of years!!! That’s how long it was from the time she left unitl the shooting. Well, I guess you have to blame somebody, huh?
You also made a comment that at least Goleta has real armed guards. They don’t. The rent a cops don’t have guns. Only postal police, Inspectors and OIG Agents can carry at postal facilities. Personally I think there should be postal police at all large facilities but that ain’t gonna happen. And it’s not up to the Inspection Service. The PMG makes that call.
